While the general participation rates in higher education has been steadily increasing and today our HE GER is 21.5%, this is not evenly spread across social groups and women. Equitable growth is essential to sustain higher GER rates and hence what kinds of affirmative action could be suggested to reduce gender and social disparities in here.

I think to be able to bridge the gender gap in society in general and especially keeping in mind the diversity at work place - the government needs to enable women to work. To a mother if you can assure access, security and good environment for her child, she can be immensely productive at work. To be able to do this, I would like to suggest a norm for any building having more that 20 working women at an average age of 25 to have a day care centre in the same building.

In order to bridgegender and social gaps young learners should be made aware of social discripancies and encouraged to participate in discussions on 'gender and social gaps'. Schools should arrange programs on current social issues and encourage their students to share their opinions.

I have a small question to ask. Does anyone think that parents would like to spoil their children's future? I am sure the answer will be a big big 'NO'.So if their kin is now 18+ & is Major & runs away with their loved ones, the police says they have no right over them. Don't you think consent of at least one parent from both side should be mandatory as the consent of the boy & the girl is. Think over it.

Reservation on the basis of caste in educational institutes and govt. jobs should be stopped immediately as those who get into IIT's through SC/ST/OBC quoatas are not able to cope up with academic pressure at such prestigious institutes. often they end up commiting suicides which is very sad. Rather than having reservation for ST/SC/OBC who get fake certifcates which are difficult to identify, it is better to have 50% reservation for girls in educational institutes and govt. jobs .

The difference between two words, qualification & education is qualification we get as degrees on a piece of paper, but to give right kind of education educated teachers or masters are required which used to take place in Gurukuls in ancient times where education was given to the individual to become a complete human being & function with brotherhod on this earth, with equal vision for all human beings irrespective of physical forms, manmade religions, gods, castes, creeds, languages divisions.

If govt is really serious about bridging social gaps, very first step should be to demolish cast base reservation and stop doing vote bank politics as in past 30 years it have been proven that these reservations haven't benefited them.In excess of that,it has created hateful atmosphere among people of this country. It also have affected to discourage talented youth of this country and made them leave this country due to giving importance to their casts rather than their talent and merit.
