However passengers tend to carry inflammable and dangerous materials like firecrackers, petroleum products, explosives etc., resulting in fire accidents and loss of human life.

Why doesnt the union govt/railways seriously consider introducing local commuter trains for a city like Bangalore? With the existing infrastructure and little more modifications, the core IT belt of whitefield area and Electronics city can be addressed. If implemented it would tremendously reduce the congestion, fuel consumtion and pollution levels.

Must read these suggestions.. I really think there should be a medical team in every express train as like Pantry cars. the sick passengers or some or needed people can directly take there precautions while on running train. I hv some more suggestions for IR while Budget session is coming. People will definately welcome these ideas.

This page is bureaucratically autocratic. What I mean to say that this is totally controlled by the same bureaucrats who are beneficiary of corruption etc. This isn't run like a dialogue i.e. the public is free to give their suggestions but no authority from IR will ever respond or interact. Useless. .

How can I start a new discussion thread on this page? A thread to discuss/suggest very simple but sure-shot effective means to curb overcharging for food items in trains is really needed.

We need smoke detectors in the coach near exits. The siren will prevent people from smoking which is already illegal and also detect fire. besides the system is not too expensive. Reward people reporting instances of smoking/carrying inflammable object. The reward money must be small amount be fined from the person committing the offence.

India has lot of tourism potential. Moreover, many common man commute in Indian Railways. Why not the railways focus more on safety of passengers. Neat and well maintained coaches, with security, emergency medical facilities in long running trains. IR can give more jobs and make this as mandatory for every MBBS student to serve in IR. Now the coaches are full of bugs, cockroaches, untidy toilets. Be strict on crimes, ticket-less travel. Invite new ideas with youngsters and reward them

Catering staff on board illegally supplies alcohol to young boys and upper class passengers at high rates. In general who consumes alcohol also smokes. In drunken state and in attempt to keep the alcohol hidden from other passengers the highly inflamable alcohol causes fire. While the blame goes for carrying kerosine in trains, which is not thta inflamable as alcohol. The activities of catering staff is needed to be checked and controlled. Deceptive staff should be replaced with honest ones.
