Dhanbad makes 2.5 lakh Seed Balls

The district administration of Dhanbad in Jharkhand has taken up various novel initiatives to plant saplings and conserve water. One of them is the preparation and distribution of a whopping 2.5 lakh seed balls through members of Self Help Groups (SHGs). The seed balls are scattered in colliery areas with open-cast coal mines to take root, increase green cover and reduce air pollution.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is pleased to declare the winners of the SAIL Caller Tune Competition 2019 hosted on the Mygov.in platform calling the public at large to write and compose a Caller Tune for the organisation in Hindi /English. The competition aimed at achieving a caller tune that is apt, relevant and appealing and would highlight qualities like dependability and reliability of SAIL steel. It was also expected that the competition would cover aspects like national pride, multi-country operations and concern for Environment, Technological Development as well as contribution to Government priorities and schemes as well as highlight the company’s contribution to development of community in areas of skill development, education, medical facilities, mid day meals, sustainable income generation etc.

The Clean Paper Initiative by Government Senior Secondary School in Makha of East Sikkim converts old pages stocked in their school into note books, thereby adding value to paper and reusing the same rather than selling it to scrap vendors. The programme which earns them a small revenue is a part of the school Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

As many as 1393 soak pits were constructed and handed over to individuals and the community in Thirumalaypalam Block of Khammam district in Telangana since the start of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) on 1st July, 2019. As a result, groundwater levels in dug wells and bore wells have shown a remarkable increase.

Total 113476 entries were received in the Quiz Competition.
