Post-independence, India’s urban development trajectory can be broadly divided in three stages. The first stage spanned 15 years (First to Third Five Year Plans) and the approach was fragmented. The first three Plans were marked by efforts towards housing provisions, slum clearance and rehabilitation. The Second Five Year Plan (FYP) provided for the creation of town and country planning laws and initiated planning institutions, after which rigid Master Plans for a number of cities were developed. Two state capitals and industrial towns were developed in the Third FYP.

By transferring cash directly to beneficiaries a paradigm shift can be brought about in the development programs of the Government. This will completely change the game of development and bring rapid benefits for the people.

Water, albeit being an abundant resource and elixir of life, is not always safe to drink. Unsafe drinking water poses a grave risk of water borne diseases to over 800 million people in rural India, including diarrhoea in children.

Continuing with preparing the Patna Smart City proposal, analysis of key concerns expressed through various interactions are summarized as – “Citizens of Patna opine to co-create and preserve their rich heritage through behaviorally transforming and modernizing their vibrant capital city in all respects offering improved quality of life, improved governance, inclusivity and seamless mobility.”

The contest for design of Logo and Tagline for National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd (NCRTC) was hosted on MyGov portal. It received stupendous response from Citizens and more than four hundred entries were received.

Ministry of External Affairs hosted the National Contest on Social Innovation 2016 on MyGov India. The objective of the Contest was to identify a pool of 25 social impact innovations that offer commercially viable solutions to the socio-economic problems of India.
